Celebrating YOU, The Balanced Synthesizer!

The "CREATIVE and BEAUTIFUL HOMEMAKERS" of the World!
"The Union of the Opposites"

I FEEL, I INTUIT, THEN I'LL ACT WITH EMOTIONAL STRENGTH - WHEN I'M SURE!

The Balanced Synthesizer Meta-type - gracious and engaging as you reside in your feeling nature!

Blue asks for communication; peach reflects the "fervent wife or husband" within you.

The Balanced Synthesizer female: the classic family woman, enabler to her partner's success, the backbone. The Balanced Synthesizer male: devoted to the "family" at work, a non-conformist and sensitive. Both sexes are dominated by their emotions, often shy, and desire a partner; generous in love and in their dedication to others.

Picture the classic devoted, traditional mother and wife, or father and husband, nurturing and dedicated to both their work and their families. They are the quintessential Balanced Synthesizer Meta-types. The Balanced Synthesizer is the center point in the Synthesizer family of Meta-types, with the Mixed Synthesizer Meta-type on the right and the Synthesizer Meta-type on the left on the Meta-type pH chart (see chart below). As the name implies, the Balanced Synthesizer effectively bridges the two other Synthesizer energies within its own Meta-type: blending the artistic drama and effervescent socializing of the Mixed Synthesizer with the Synthesizer´s dedication to family, earthiness, art, and spirituality. This combination forms the Balanced Synthesizer´s unique brand of creativity and emotional nurturing.

As a Balanced Synthesizer, your emotional essence rules your life. Your powerful intuitive faculties stimulate a deep desire to know and integrate all realms of spirituality. An intellectual powerhouse on the one hand, your emotions tend to overrule rational thought when you are stressed. Confidence does not come easily to you, and you're often plagued by self-doubt. Because you reside in your feelings, you desire to create something as a positive outlet - with great flair, of course.

The most creative phrase that best describes the Balanced Synthesizer is: "I FEEL, I intuit, then I'll act with emotional strength - WHEN I'm sure!"

Balanced Synthesizers are not solitary creatures in life. You are often partnered with someone, though you do like your bit of freedom. Family and family matters are the most important thing to you, and your profession can take a backseat to your family life, especially if you're not motivated or fulfilled by it. As a woman, a Balanced Synthesizer is content as the "better half," the power behind the throne. Your home can be your creative playground, filled with crafts projects, or extraordinary baking, or helping children at school. Male Balanced Synthesizers are often found in the corporate world, and are especially successful in Human Resources. You enjoy the role of caring for employees or troubleshooting to create solutions for difficult situations.

"MARGUERITE"

Marguerite was a former model who adored the world of fashion and design. She gave it up in her early twenties when she married Tom and they decided to start a family. She brought her dramatic style into her home, transforming it into a vision of balance, beauty, and design. The wisdom she used to take care of her skin and body was a legacy she taught to her three beautiful daughters. Totally devoted to Tom and the girls, Marguerite felt it was her duty to raise them in the best possible health and lifestyle. Over the years, using her great intuition, she learned as much as she could about "self-help" and healthy eating. Her friends only half-jokingly called her a "self-proclaimed, self-taught, self-help guru."

When her youngest daughter entered college, Marguerite found herself overwhelmed by the "empty nest" syndrome. The girls were gone, now in various stages of their education, and Tom was working very late hours in his firm due to economic downturns and staff reductions. Marguerite's own identity had been submerged for years in the role of archetypal wife and mother, and now she found herself alone most of the time.

Then, tragedy struck: Tom had a sudden, massive heart attack at work and died. In total shock, Marguerite struggled to regain her balance, rediscover her own unique individuality, and nurture her daughters through this horrific time.

Leaning on all her knowledge and talents to develop her own income, she started a freelance career in illustration, writing, and advertising concepts. She honed her meditation skills and continued to learn more about health and spiritual ideas, in part because her medical benefits were extremely limited after Tom's loss. Becoming a vegetarian, Marguerite tried unsuccessfully to exercise at home in the early mornings to television programs or tapes. She hated it because she was always tired in the mornings. The highlights of her social life were her dinners with girlfriends and seeing her daughters. Her loyalty to Tom prevented her from dating, although men were obviously attracted to her.

Marguerite started to slowly gain weight around her hips, and those awful "saddlebags" appeared around her thighs. Her abdomen became bloated and she began suffering from bothersome gas and acid reflux problems. She began taking papaya enzymes (not a bad start) and continued her daily dose of selected vitamins. She even tried limiting the digestion-unfriendly foods she had read about - such as "night shades" and gas-producing broccoli - to no avail. She began to suffer terribly from a painful muscular disorder and no health technique or medical treatment she tried could ease her suffering. Lethargic and depressed, she was miserable with her "ugly, uncooperative" self. Despite all her best efforts to balance her mind, body, spirit, and emotions, Marguerite felt like all the information she had gleaned was backfiring on her rather than helping her. She'd exhausted all her possibilities and couldn't afford any more doctors, tests, and prescriptions that didn't really work.

Frustrated and terribly unhappy, but still stunning at 60 and barely looking 40, Marguerite was brought to my office by a dear friend, one of my long-time clients. Marguerite had heard of me and tidbits of my practice from her friend, so she was open to my approach. I was not the first alternative healthcare practitioner she'd seen, but with my blended methodology of Eastern philosophy and Western science, I was certainly the most unique.

I listened to her courageous story and did an extensive intake questionnaire. I then explained to Marguerite that she was not a vegetarian, because her body fit the Balanced Synthesizer Meta-type. Vegetarianism had been wrong for her, and had caused a carbohydrate insensitivity. This had prompted her power gland, the pancreas, to overproduce insulin, thereby causing her weight gain, low blood sugar attacks, and digestive problems. She really needed ample protein in her diet. Her least effective gland, the thyroid, had become even weaker through abuse and neglect, also contributing to her weight gain and her lethargy. In addition to the Balanced Synthesizer food plan and menu, I designed a Balanced Synthesizer supplement program for her. I also recommended that her customized, Meta-type-specific exercise program should be done in the evenings when her energy was high, since mornings were her naturally low point. Still facing insurance troubles, Marguerite was delighted that the food plan and exercise plan were all right there for her and added no new expenses. In fact, her customized supplement regimen cost no more than what she was already spending on her haphazard vitamin selection; tailored to her specific Meta-type needs, they would work more efficiently.

Over the next six months, Marguerite's life was transformed. Her excess pounds melted off, revealing her natural curvaceous figure; her digestive issues vanished; the muscular aches and pains disappeared; her energy and beauty returned; and her depression lifted. Through our work together, she discovered how terribly lonely she had been without Tom. Even though she was longing for a partner, she felt disloyal since she didn't have closure with him before he died. This repressed pain and stress had taken its toll on her as she was trying to start a new life and keep her girls physically, emotionally, and mentally healthy. She also had one of those "Ah-Ha" moments when she fully realized what an intense, creative, intuitive, and emotional person she was, someone who did indeed want - and needed - a life partner. Two years later she married Gene, an advertising executive she had met on one of her freelance jobs, and she still implements her Balanced Synthesizer program to this day.

The Balanced Synthesizer´s strongest endocrine gland is the pancreas, the "master" of your digestion and blood sugar stability. Your least effective endocrine gland is your thymus gland, the "master" of your immunity followed by your thyroid gland. If you're out of balance or run down from stress, you may have difficulties with illness, such as colds, flu, or just plain fatigue.

Energetically, since Balanced Synthesizers are slow in the morning, it is not your best time. Late morning (11:00 AM) and early to late evening are your peak energy times. Your energy gains momentum as the day progresses, but you can easily have a deep energy drop in the afternoon. In the evening, you again gain energy and you can work into the night if you need to finish a project. You can fall asleep instantly, but you do require plentiful amounts of sleep that enable you to regenerate and function well. Without proper rest, you can easily fall ill. Balanced Synthesizers also must eat regularly to maintain a continuous energy flow. Exercise may not be one of your favorite things, but you do need robust exercise, like running or cardiovascular routines. They will make you feel much better and will increase your stamina.

Balanced Synthesizers have a very low tolerance for stress and stressful situations since your adrenal glands ("masters" of the Stress Response) are not one of your major power sources. Therefore, your reaction to stress is usually depression and internalized anxiety, which can lead you into deep fatigue, lethargy, and illness.

The Balanced Synthesizer in you thinks of food as one of life's more pleasurable experiences and definitely looks forward to three meals a day, especially dinner. However, you can gain weight very easily because the endocrine glands that rule metabolism and energy, your adrenal glands, tend to be your least effective glands. If your powerhouse pancreas becomes imbalanced due to prolonged stress, you may also experience low blood sugar drops and high insulin spikes that will cause you to pile on extra pounds, especially on your hips and thighs, and trigger those awful food cravings for sugar and starches. Try to remember that sugar and large amounts of carbohydrates are dramatically unhealthy for you.

Do you recognize yourself?

"HARRY"

A truly brilliant self-made man, Harry tenaciously rose from deep-rooted lower-class beginnings until he could have been a successful English barrister. Instead, he took a position with a huge corporation, becoming known as its top negotiator with a challenging union. Rescuing the company many times from the union's sometimes violent strikes, Harry's reputation grew. Eventually, a middle-sized firm in the United States offered him a position in its Human Resources department. Believing this would be a great opportunity, he and his wife and two children moved to America.

Struggling with cultural changes, Harry did well in the new corporate environment, but it wasn't quite what he had expected. Trying to settle into suburban home life in Connecticut, the children had problems adjusting. His wife decided to return to school and become a physical therapist. With her concentration diverted from home and family, Harry picked up the slack, and in many ways became "Mr. Mom." His concentration at work suffered.

Not climbing the corporate ladder the way he had envisioned, coupled with the distress of a neglected home, Harry slammed into his own emotional obstacles, feeling tremendously inadequate. Thinking new goals would help, he took a position on the West Coast. Nothing changed, and the marriage began unraveling. At a time when he wanted to bolt and was consumed by guilt, they learned that his wife was pregnant. So he stayed for the sake of his children, now three in number.

Tragically, this youngest child died several years later and Harry's grief was unrelenting. His view of himself and the corporate world collapsed. He became closer to his two surviving children, putting them before anything else. Bitter and depressed, he also mourned as the professional success he had envisioned for himself slipped away. He turned to extramarital affairs, hoping these easy successes would lessen his suffering. Not surprisingly, he and his wife finally divorced.

Harry spiraled into greater depression and devastating lethargy. His usual peak energetic times - late morning to early evening, then late evening - turned into empty caverns of hopelessness. He began gaining weight and devouring anything that came his way - food, experiences, women, even alcohol - whatever he thought could dull his pain. Beginning to lose ground in his professional life, his reputation suffered.

Stressful situations saddled Harry with bad colds, flues, and terrible fatigue. He even fell asleep in the middle of several meetings. He was restless and irritable. Still traveling most of the time for his work, the routine of jet lag, airplane food, business meetings, and hotels was taking a great emotional and physical toll on him. Discovering he had contracted tuberculosis while traveling in a third world country, he became very frightened. Seeing that Harry was unable to cope with his health issues, a co-worker suggested he consult me. This was something totally foreign to Harry's traditional "corporate" belief system.

Harry first read my book, Your Body, Your Diet, and then decided to pay me a visit. He was fairly sure he had picked out his Meta-type, the Balanced Synthesizer, from my book. During our initial intake consultation I assured him he was correct. We worked together to turn his life around. He implemented his Balanced Synthesizer food plan and began a regimen of supplements I had designed to build up his immune system and alleviate his depression. During our treatments, I had suggested he enter into psychotherapy to help him handle the grief he held so tightly within his body and his heart. On his own during this period, Harry stumbled into a soothing and healing world of spirituality by discovering Unity Church. It brought a whole new meaning to his life. Diligently using all of his new tools, Harry was finally able to deal with his grief, to fully accept his life, and to live in peace. Today, Harry is the head of the Human Resources department of a large corporation. He is full of vibrant health and vitality, still very close to his two surviving children, and beginning a new life with a lovely companion, Claire.

The Balanced Synthesizer Meta-type indicates that you are quite a "slow metabolizer" (your digestive system breaks down your foods very slowly) but you are a "speedier oxidizer" (your body burns off energy from your food very quickly). This gives you a pH range toward the end of the acid/alkaline spectrum, on the alkaline side: "alkaline forming" (7) - interestingly enough, the same pH as blood.

Strong Alkaline
pH: 8 - 7.5

Weak Alkaline
pH: 6.8

Mixed Synthesizer

This type of metabolism gives the Balanced Synthesizer very little ability to handle fast-burning carbohydrates because you'll burn them off way too quickly, causing a blood sugar drop. Your food plan must have as its foundation the slower-burning foods, proteins. Consequently, you require a carnivore diet, with the emphasis on protein -- fish, fowl, eggs, and meat-as well as an abundance of root vegetables.

Your difficulty handling the Stress Response can also cause you to flip out of your Balanced Synthesizer Meta-type and into another Meta-type (see the Meta-type chart above based on the pH value of each Meta-type. If you're anxious or agitated, you may crash into the Mixed Synthesizer, just to the right of your Meta-type. If you're exhausted and burned out, you may plummet into the Synthesizer Meta-type, just to the left. If you think you may have jumped out of your Meta-type, read the Pendulum Effect.

You may have noticed that, as a Balanced Synthesizer, you love cooler weather and the beauty of majestic, wooded environments, such as the Canadian Rockies or the gray mistiness of England or Scotland. These are perfect climates and locales for you to live in or enjoy as vacation spots.

Balanced Synthesizers find their life's reward in caring for those closest to them, and in their own special brand of creativity, whether at home or at work. They have big hearts and will go the distance to protect and genuinely please others, providing their loved ones with the resources that will help them grow and flourish. Some words that best describe the Balanced Synthesizer are:

  • Earthy
  • Humane
  • Intense
  • Introverted
  • Nonconformist
  • Physical
  • Productive
  • Sad
  • Sensitive
  • Stubborn

As a Balanced Synthesizer, you integrate the emotional passion, creativity, and mental brilliance of the Mixed Synthesizer with the deeply emotional, maternal, and spiritual essence of the Synthesizer to form your own special brand of intuitive genius. To keep your stability in this powerfully emotional and energetic sea of creativity is no small feat. If you are pulled out of balance by stress, catapulting you into the intensity of the Mixed Synthesizer´s energy, you can end up using your head more than your heart. Sexuality could become more an outlet for your stress, rather than a human bonding.

The Balanced Synthesizer´s love of three meals per day may give way to sensuous binging, which will throw your power gland, the pancreas, out of balance. This could lead to sugar cravings, blood sugar slumps, hypoglycemia, irritability, depression, and fatigue. Unable to withstand the Stress Response for any long-term period, your adrenal glands will begin to cave in. Your least effective gland, your thyroid gland, could grind to a halt, causing continuous weight gain, terrible fatigue, and even deeper depression. You'll become vulnerable to all illnesses, especially colds, bronchitis, asthma, allergies, and even pneumonia. You ultimately will crash - into the Meta-type just below you, the Synthesizer. Ensconced in the grip of the Synthesizer´s unfamiliar slow energy, you'll find yourself emotionally paralyzed and depressed, unable to make any decisions with intuitive clarity. The only colors you'll see are gray and black.

Therefore, learning all about your Balanced Synthesizer Meta-type will allow you to know what your body truly needs in terms of food, exercise, and lifestyle to sustain your pace and be true to yourself. You'll discover that all your health issues deal not only with your body but also with your mind, emotions, intellect, heart, and spirit. Staying in balance within your Balanced Synthesizer Meta-type will help you live a long, healthy, and fulfilling life so you can make use of the skills and talents that are uniquely you.
